Civil unrest in certain parts of South Africa are not affecting tourists or tourist sites.
Violent protests have flared up over the past two days, affecting foreign national business owners in central business districts, primarily in the Gauteng and Kwazulu Natal provinces.
These protests have been isolated to areas where tourists are unlikely to travel.
SA Tourism has released a statement saying it is aware and concerned around the damage that this is causing the country from a reputation perspective. “Our government is taking the matter very seriously and have put security plans in place to address the situation.”
Arrests have been made in connection with public violence, malicious damage to property and theft.
