ACSA Security Management has issued a memorandum, advising all OR Tambo International Airport (ORTIA) security service providers and stakeholders that the airport will be on high alert from March 17 to March 29, 2016.

During the period of high alert, all perimeter gates and access points must be closed and/or locked as per the after-hours operational requirements. Access is to be granted via locked gates.

Cargo and General Aviation Security Gates must provide the ACSA Security Control Room with hourly situation reports between 22h00 and 04h00 for the duration of the high alert.

All incidents must be reported through to the ACSA Security Control Room 011 921 6655/6813 and to the relevant Security Assistant Managers for respective assistance (Wilma de Bruin: 071 196 4555 and Assistant Manager Ray Ncube 082 551 4736). During this period Mr Tau Thekiso (082 336 6602) will be overall in charge of security operations at ORTIA.

During the high alert period it is expected that the perimeter gate closure time will be communicated timeously though to ORTIA Security Management. The security management team on duty must ensure all security staff are visited frequently during respective shifts.

Stakeholders are requested to maintain a state of alert during this period with regards to all high value items under their respective control.
