ACS was jointly established in 1999 by the Board of Airline Representatives of South Africa (BARSA), the Airlines Association of Southern Africa AASA) and the Airports Company of South Africa (ACSA) to provide operational support services to international and domestic airlines operating from, into and within South Africa.
During 2008, ACSA chose to relinquish management of ACS and the subsequently re-formed organisation installed an in-house management team, continuing operations as a not-for-profit entity. The underlying intent of the organisation remains essentially unchanged after fifteen years of operation – uncompromising prioritised, globally benchmarked service quality, cost effective service delivery and maintaining a philosophy of reinvesting operational surpluses into its world-class equipment, people and processes. ACS invests in the latest technology and equipment to ensure that services are rendered to the highest possible international and national standards and best practice.

The new slogan replaces the previous “Alive with Possibility”.
“We welcome the approval by Cabinet of ‘Inspiring new ways’ as South Africa’s new country marketing slogan,” Miller Matola CEO of Brand South Africa said.
The new slogan is the culmination of many months of research into what thousands of ordinary South Africans believe captures the essence of our country.
South Africa’s remarkable transition from pugnacious pariah state to one of the world’s most-important regional powers, has been matched by a diligent management of its global brand.
South Africa has recognized that every country in the world has a “brand” – a way in which the country is perceived — and the active management of that brand brings trade, tourism and investment, resulting in more jobs and economic growth.

Technology that transforms travel
Sabre technology is as essential to travel as air and water are essential to life. We are one of the world’s largest software companies. We were Big Data long before that was a buzzword. We created the world’s largest electronic marketplace when Amazon was just a river in Brazil. What started as a joint initiative between American Airlines and IBM to create the world’s first computerised airline reservation system in 1960 has since evolved into a technology ecosystem that touches almost every stage of your travel experience.
